FEATURE WRITING: Here are several published articles that I wrote for the San Antonio Express-News.
ACADEMIC WRITING: I served in academia for nearly 20 years as a teacher and student media adviser. During my tenure, I wrote in a variety of different formats — including budget reports, curriculum revision proposals, course assessments and more — but always incorporated narratives and clear, simple language into my writing.
Here is a paper I presented in 2015 to the Joint Journalism and Communication History Conference at the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University (click image for download).
I also have written several book reviews related to journalism and communication topics such as this review on Helen Piper’s book The TV Detective: Voices of Dissent in Contemporary Television. The review was published in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly.
PROMOTIONAL WRITING: To recruit for a media camp I organized and led while at North Central College in Illinois, I created a promotional flyer to attract first-year students.
