Projects

PRINT AND DIGITAL: As student media adviser at both North Central College and Our Lady of the Lake University, I oversaw the transformation from print-only media operations into full digital news organizations. I implemented digital practices to include online sites, podcasts, video streaming, and more. At both institutions, we kept a link to our print histories, but with an updated aesthetic.

Here is one example of the modernized, award-winning student news magazine (click the image for full magazine):

DATA ANALYSIS AND REPORTS: I am very adept at using numbers to quantify project (and work) success. Whether it’s using analytics to show year-over-year increases in traffic to a website or social media channel, or compiling an annual report to track work production in quantifiable terms — numbers can add depth to whatever story I’m trying to tell.

GRAPHIC DESIGN: Using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, I create graphics primarily for intranet articles and for social media. I often use a portion of an article to spotlight in a social post or build an entire campaign (such as “Meet the Interns) on social cards that can be shared with professional and personal connections.

VIDEO: I attended a digital media workshop at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., where I had one day to find a story; shoot footage, interviews, and b-roll; and edit the content into a publishable story.

After wandering around downtown Nashville, I came across a small bike shop that was just asking for its story to be told. The gracious owner was happy to tell the story of Green Fleet, the Accidental Bike Shop.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS: In addition to using digital presentations as a teaching tool, I also created themed presentations as a featured speaker at conferences and conventions. (Click the image for full presentation.)
